Classic Templates
Classic Templates is a Jahia JavaScript template set with the standard building blocks of a corporate or institutional website. Everything a visitor reads is contributed content, editable in Page Builder and jContent in every language of the site, and the look comes entirely from CSS design tokens: a site switches theme, or light and dark, from its settings, with no code change.
What you get
- Complete site chrome: a header with logo, brand name, a menu built from the page tree three levels deep, utility links and a language switcher; a footer with tagline, link columns, legal and social links; a breadcrumb trail. Header and footer are shared by every page and edited on the home page.
- Reusable sections: hero banner and hero carousel, image and text, rich text, columns, card grid (cards, icon tiles or a logo strip), accordion, tabs, key figures, quote, link list, content list, notice bar, site map and a free zone. Every section can end with an optional call to action.
- News and articles: stored in content folders, each with its own page, listed as cards or compact rows by content lists that filter by folder, category and language. Breadcrumbs go through the page that lists them.
- Four themes: Classic, Ocean, Terracotta and Horizon, each in light and dark, chosen per site. Visitors get their system's scheme unless the site forces one. Contrast is checked for every theme and scheme.
- Accessible by default: audited against WCAG 2.1 AA and RGAA 4.1.2. Skip link, landmarks, strict heading order, keyboard menu, visible focus, reflow at 320 px, scrollable tables, carousels without autoplay by default, a site map as the second navigation system.
- Search-engine ready: one heading 1 per page, titles and descriptions, image alternatives, and schema.org structured data (JSON-LD) on every page, including the breadcrumb and news and articles.
- Open to other modules: the free zone takes components of other modules (Formidable forms, a FAQ, a media gallery, a store locator) and a token bridge makes them follow the site's theme.
- Bilingual out of the box: every editor label, tooltip and visitor-facing string is available in English and French.

- Install the module from the Store, or upload classic-templates-<version>.tgz in Administration > Modules.
- Create a site on the classic-templates template set (Administration > Sites). The new site already has a home page with its header and footer.
- Choose the theme and the colour scheme in the site settings (jContent, edit the site).
- Recommended: enable Jahia's sitemap module on the site for sitemap.xml.
A demonstration site can be built with the scripts of the repository; see the README.
FAQ
Can I use components of other modules?
Yes. Drop them in a free zone section; the template set maps their colours onto the site's theme, in light and dark.
How do I change the look of a site?
Edit the site in jContent and pick a theme (Classic, Ocean, Terracotta, Horizon) and a colour scheme (automatic, light or dark). No code change is needed.
Where are the header and footer edited?
On the home page. They are shared by every page of the site and read-only elsewhere.
Which languages are supported?
Editor labels and visitor strings ship in English and French. Content can be translated into any language the site enables.
Does it work on Jahia Cloud?
Yes. Keep the site's server name to localhost so the instance resolves it from the URL path; version 0.3.1 reads every setting from the page's own site.
